Kontact is the original client for Kolab, the software which is used by Kolab Groupware. It is fully Free Software and supports end-to-end encryption with GnuPG out of the box. It is available for GNU/Linux and Windows. Kolab Systems sponsors the Windows installer and maintains the Windows version.
If you want to set up Kontact with your Kolab Groupware account, please follow the instructions below.
Set up a Kolab Account¶
In order to add a new account to your Kontact, please open the Account Assistant and select Kolab Groupware Server as the account type. Fill out the Personal Settings while making sure that the Server Address is set to <kolab-host> and the Kolab Version to v3.
If you followed the above instructions using the Account Assistant, your IMAP account should already have been set up properly. However, you can verify your settings based on the screenshots below. In order to do so, please go to Settings in the menu bar and choose Configure Kontact. Then go to Mail and Accounts.
Please make sure that the IMAP Server is <kolab-host> and that it uses port 143 with STARTTLS encryption. Please also use your full and primary Kolab Groupware address such as <your-email> as a user name.
Unfortunately, the SMTP settings need to be corrected after account setup. In order to do so, please go to Settings in the menu bar and choose Configure Kontact. Then go to Mail, Accounts and then click on the Sending tab. The server should be <kolab-host> with port 587 and TLS encryption. Please use your full and primary Kolab Groupware address such as <your-email> as a user name and also see the screenshots below.
